Maritime Highway Project Drive Indonesia's Maritime Industry Booming!
1. Ministry of Transport, Indonesia Has Allocated Rp 11.8 trillion (US$875.6 million) to construct 190 vessels from 750 GT – 2.000 GT
By 2016, the demand of vessel are predicted to increase dramatically due to starting the implementation of Marine Highway Projects (tol laut). The Indonesia Ministry of Transport has allocated Rp 11.8 trillion (US$875.6 million) to construct 190 ships from 750 GT – 2.000 GT to support the program, including patrol vessels and navigation ships. Indonesia's President Jokowi aims to solve the country’s high logistics costs through his maritime highway initiative. Logistics have been hindered by uncertainties surrounding shipping schedules as well as a lack of infrastructure in the eastern part of Indonesia.
2. Ministry of Maritime Affair & Fishery, Indonesia will allocate IDR 16 trillion to procure 16,000 units vessels with 5 GT, 500 GT to 1000 GT in periord 2016 - 2019
Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has allocated Rp 4 trillion to build thousands of fishing vessels,transporting, and supervision in 2016. Ship procurement programs is targeted to reach 16,000 units from 5 GT, 500 GT, to 1,000 GT with valued at Rp 16 trillion or US$ 12,3 billion in the period 2016-2019. Ship procurement programs conducted by a consortium of PT. Pal Indonesia with some national shipbuilding companies.
The National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) previously estimated that the government would need to invest around US$ 54 billion (Rp 700 trillion) between 2015 and 2019 to support the maritime highway vision, including to develop 24 commercial seaports, 1,481 non-commercial seaports and to procure vessels.
All of domestic shipbuilding industries already can enjoy incentive of Free VAT for importing vessel components, equipment and machinery. The incentive and Marine Highway Projects and Indonesia's Maritime Axis Vision will drive Indonesia's Maritime Industry Booming.
